Apprentice Plays a Role at the Park - Pleasurewood Hills

An apprentice has been playing an important role in helping to make sure that a popular tourist attraction in East Anglia is ready to open later this month

Matt Challis joined the maintenance team at Pleasurewood Hills last year and has been busy making sure the rides at the Lowestoft Theme Park are ready for the thousands of people who are expected to visit between March and October.

He was offered an Advanced Apprenticeship after successfully completing work experience at the park while he was a student on the Level 2 Maintenance Engineering course at East Coast College, Lowestoft Campus. During the work experience programme, Matt impressed the park’s maintenance team with his attitude and knowledge and was offered a place with the permanent team.

As an Apprentice, Matt gets to spend time working alongside the members of the park’s maintenance team and attends college for one day a week. He has seen first-hand how positive joining the apprenticeship programme has been for his career development.

18-year-old Matt said: “With an apprenticeship I find that I am learning at a more practical level. I get to do more hands-on work which helps me understand the work better – it’s my preferred way to learn.”

A spokesperson for Pleasurewood Hills said: “We’re really pleased to support the Apprenticeship Programme as it is a great way to be able to encourage and support people looking to start their careers in the engineering industry and boost the workforce at the park. Several people from the Maintenance Team began their own careers as Apprentices so they really understand how valuable this kind of training can be in preparing for the world of work.”

All packages must be pre-booked and pre-paid at least two weeks’ in advance of the planned party date. A 20% deposit is required upon booking. Please note that we are unable to refund children cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice.

Free admission for parents of the birthday child who are season pass holders will not be entitled to the free admission for parents as this is already included with the pass. Both season pass and non season pass birthday bookings are to collect their entry bands from reception upon arrival.

Menu requirements must be provided at least three days prior to the party; this will help us to deliver a prompt service and not delay your fun.

The prices shown are irrespective of age. Guests under 90cm in height enter the park free of charge (meals are chargeable). Groups are a minimum of 20 paid guests.

These group rates cannot be used in conjunction with any other offers or discounts. In order to guarantee the above group rates, we would need a firm booking together with payment at least 14 days in advance of your visit.

Our corporate packages are bespoke based on the requirements of our guests. Exclusive use of park venues are subject to availability. Request for use of the park's conference facilities must be made no less than 14 days prior to visit. Enquiries are confirmed once an invoice has been issued. Any changes of numbers must be confirmed no later than 14 days prior to the date of visit. Bookings with late changes will be charged at the original invoice amount.
