As excitement for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee grows, we’ve been looking back to the day when Woody Bear had his very own meeting with Britain’s longest serving Monarch.
On 1 August 1985, the Queen visited Lowestoft and Oulton Broad and Woody Bear was one of the lucky ones to meet Her Majesty.
In the two years that Pleasurewood Hills had been open, the park’s mascot had gained popularity with its visitors. He’d proved such a hit that a cuddly replica of the bear had been created so that visitors could buy their very own Woody Bear as a memento of their day.
Prince Phillip accompanied the Queen on her visit to Suffolk and Woody Bear presented two of the soft toys to Her Majesty for Princes William and Harry.
