Pleasurewood Spills

Your School Could Be A Winner Too!

Win a day at Pleasurewood Hills, help train the sea lions and win a cash prize for your school!

The lucky pupil chosen as winner will win a day at Pleasurewood Hills to work alongside our animal trainers to help train the Sea Lions and present the daily shows and a cash prize for their school.  £500 first prize and two runners up prizes of £250.

On the day of their visit each student will be given a competition form for them to complete during the day of the visit.  Some of the answers to the questions can be found in the information supplied within the competition form and some can be found by visiting the Sea Lion show.

The future is unsure for many species of Sea Lions. Years of them being destroyed by humans has really taken a toll on them. Environmental concerns continue to cause problems for them in their natural habitats as well. The fact that humans are also taking control over the waters where they once lived in peace is a huge concern. Even with conservation efforts in place there is still a great deal of work to be done if these animals are going to survive.

Why not arrange a special school project around the issues the Sea Lions face and finish the day by seeing them up close.  Sea Lions are considered to be highly intelligent animals. They have been used to teach tricks for entertainment and they have also been trained to help the United States Navy.

They can live up 25-35 years in captivity and Pleasurewood Hills currently has three Sea Lions.  Bimbo, Pleasurewood Hill’s first Sea Lion, arrived here in 1983 and retired after 25 years in 2008. After giving many years of enjoyment to visitors he now lives in Blackpool with a harem of female Sea Lions.

Arrange your visit by downloading a booking form and sending it to us, or by emailing: groups@pleasurewoodhills.com or just give us a call on 01502 586000.  Risk assessments and insurance certificates are available to download along with a copy of Pleasurewood Spills, schools summer competition 2010.
