Thrill seekers wanted...

Corporal Gaz Hastie and Corporal Andy Hurcombe have been at the Park on selected days over the summer, promoting career opportunities with the RAF.

As home to ‘Wipeout’, the region’s most extreme rollercoaster, Pleasurewood Hills attracts many visitors with nerves of steel and a sense of adventure. So as well as being a thrilling day out, it’s proving the perfect recruiting ground for the Royal Air Force.

Corporal Gaz Hastie and Corporal Andy Hurcombe have been at the Park on selected days over the summer, promoting career opportunities with the RAF, including the Reserves and Air Crew.

“Feedback from those we’ve spoken to has been great,” says Andy. “We’ve had lots of enquiries from people of all ages and backgrounds. Being somewhere like Pleasurewood Hills means we get to reach a wider variety of potential recruits than we would at more traditional venues, such as Jobs Fairs. People have time to stop for a chat and are generally very interested in the sorts of opportunities the RAF has to offer.”

Denise Thompson, commercial manager at the Park, says she’s been happy to have the RAF represented. “I don’t think visitors necessarily expect to see a Forces recruiting stand round the corner from the rollercoaster but if you enjoy the speed and G-force of ‘Wipeout’ then you may just enjoy the kind of experience the RAF has to offer!”

In what’s proving to be a very successful partnership, the RAF are hoping to return to the Park during half-term week in October and are already making plans for next year.
